Sale of Chametz

The Torah tells us in addition to not eating chametz on Passover a Jew may also not own any chametz. (bread and similar products made of gluten aside from matzah.)

As another option instead of getting rid and destroying all chametz one can sell his chametz to a non Jew, ensuring that any chametz is not his over the duration of the holiday.

To make this process simple we empower a rabbi to sell the Chametz for us. so we don’t have to worry about it.

The rabbi will sell buy the chametz back from the non Jew when Passover is over.

All chametz sold should be stored away over the holiday so we do not come to eat it.

I herby fully empower and authorize Rabbi Mendel Gordon to act on my behalf, to sell all types of chametz, as defined by Torah and Rabbinic law, that may be in my possession, knowingly or unknowingly, wherever it may be; at home, at my place of business, or elsewhere, in accordance with the requirements of Jewish law, as incorporated in the special contract for the sale of chametz. Rabbi Mendel gordon is also empowered to act as he deems fit to lease all places wherein the chametz may be found, particularly at the address(es) above Rabbi Mendel Gordon is authorized to appoint any agent or substitute in his stead who shall have full right to sell and lease as provided herein. This delegation of power to sell chametz is in conformity with Torah and rabbinic law, and in accordance with applicable civil laws.
